Procedure (extract of a movie with legends)
DISCOGEL® preparation
Description of different steps going of delivery to suspension of gel up to the filling of the syringe.
The resuspension of the metallic contrast agent must be homogeneous at the time of its injection. Kit allows intervention on two discs (one needle and one syringe per disc).
It is necessary to agitate the vial vigorously.
It is possible to use to use an outlying rotary agitator.
The quantity of DISCOGEL used depends on the size of the disc to be treated. The quantity of gel to be injected generally varies from 0.2 to 0.8 ml. However, this is an indicative dose, which must be adjusted and adapted, for example, in the case of a large body. The practitioner fills a syringe with 1 ml of gel for each disc to be treated. When injected, the radio-opaque agent must be well suspended and the gel must be homogeneous. One vial of DISCOGEL can treat two discs during the same operation.

DISCOGEL® injection
For the curious persons about the procedure, we filmed two types of intervention in real conditions. Only needles are requested to use the product with this technology; this is why this procedure is said minimally – invasive.
It is obvious that if you are sensitive, you should rather better not to view these films even if the needles implantations and injections with the help of syringes appear to us neither invasive nor shocking.
The patients are besides all conscious and the practitioner explains the gestures which he lavishes on the direct patient.
Movie: treatment of cervical herniated disc C5-C6 C5-C6
Note: this indication at the cervical level does not exist anymore in the EU.
Movie: treatment of lumbar and et sacrum disc hernia L4-L5 & L5-S1
MRI results

Cervical herniated disc treated with DISCOGEL®
Young athlete: champion of triple jump which took back normally its physical activities after the treatment.
Note the regression of the hernia.
Thoracic herniated disc treated with DISCOGEL®
Military person who had a traumatism during a bad fall with a consecutive thoracic disc hernia. This person is back in his professional activities.
Note that despite persistence of a “shape of protrusion” watchable on imagery, the patient after one month was asymptomatic (lost his pain).

Exclusive disc hernia in a lumbar level of spine treated with DISCOGEL®
Note that at 3 months after injection of DISCOGEL®, the patient already was asymptomatic.
4 years after injection the height of the disc remains stable: no vertebral collapse occurred.
